A HISTORIC HOTEL NEAR THE GASLAMP QUARTER

A Century of Reinvention in The Heart of San Diego

In 1926, the Pickwick Hotel opened on Broadway, continuing today as The Sofia Hotel. Born in an era of architectural ambition, the building embodied modern luxury with Neo-Gothic towers, mirroring San Diego’s growing prominence. A century later, The Sofia remains a fixture of the city’s urban fabric—refreshed for the modern traveler yet deeply connected to its heritage. As our centennial approaches, we honor the past while continuing to evolve, proving that for a landmark in this story, everything old is new again.
